It's A Leg Thing

Almost all of the movements in weightlifting are leg driven movements (hips included).  The thruster is no exception.  The thruster demands leg strength to perform the squat and the power through the lower body to drive the weight overhead.  When done correctly, the arms and upper body only come in (other than isometrically) at the very end to fully extend the weight overhead.
